Pregnancy and post delivery Abdominal separation
Abdominal separation, also known as diastasis recti, is a common condition that can occur during and after pregnancy. In this section, we will discuss abdominal separation problems experienced by women during and after pregnancy, their impact on core strength, and the role of pelvic floor physiotherapy in providing rehabilitation and support.
Abdominal separation
Also known as “DRAM”
(Diastasis of Rectus Abdominis Muscle)
This is the issue whereby your main “6 pack muscle” separates. The muscle is called
“rectus abdominis” and it runs from your pelvis to your sternum either side of the belly button. You are encouraged to do some special rehab exercises to help it recover and we can show you how. We use ultrasound to look at the gap and give you rehab exercises
